Retox Party Hostel – the name says it all. This is not a place where people come to cleanse, rejuvenate or detox. It’s a place where people come to drink, get wild and RETOX. It is a close family of drinkers who like to drink at the bar during the day and head out to party at night. If you want to get a good night’s sleep and achieve a lot during the day, this is not the hostel for you, but if you want to see what Budapest’s nightlife has to offer, not be judged and maybe squeeze some sightseeing in between, you have found the right place.
Retox Party Hostel is located in Budapest’s 6 district the heart of the downtown and thus close to all the nightlife hot spots. It runs off Budapest’s “Broadway,” which not only hosts the city’s theatre scene but also Bars and Clubs. Being in the downtown it is also close to some of Budapest’s major sights as well as close to all the major public transport routes to get you wherever you need to go, night and day.

Set sail with us down the river Danube. Yes you may have heard rumors of this wild ALL YOU CAN DRINK boat party on your travels. Well, those rumors are true! For 10000huf you can have as much beer, wine, champagne and soft drinks your sea legs can handle (with cheaper non-all you can drink options for those on a budget). There will be DJ’s and professional photographers on board so you can get a couple of pictures with the beautiful Parliament in the background so your family finally sees you’re doing touristy things 😉 If that wasn’t enough we will then be heading to a Ruin bar afterwards!

Tuesday: Open Mic Night

For Open Mic Night we hire out an underground bar, where we have a whole host of instruments, and anyone with even the slightest bit of talent can get up and perform in front of what is undoubtedly the most supportive crowd you have ever seen - unless you’re playing Wonderwall. Mika Tivador is the name of the bar we hire out. For those of you who are willing, it’s the perfect stage to show off your skills and maybe impress that lucky lady, or dashing gentlemen. As for the rest, it’s a great night to hang out, meet new people, and watch some incredible live music, including unique renditions of classic songs as well as some surprisingly good originals. You never know what talent is gonna rock up which makes Open Mic one of the most tantalizing nights of the week.
Wednesday: Alcoholympics / Pub Crawl

Retox Bar is hosting a spectacle of drinking prowess by setting up a series of drinking events that teams of 3 can sign up to take part in. It goes from things as simple as 'quarters' to something as challenging as 'The Gauntlet'. Honestly, whether you are competing or not it is absolutely hilarious to watch and if you DO decide to compete, the winner not only gets the prize of glory but a prize at the end... some much un-needed alcohol and champion wristbands. The games begin at about 10pm.

Join us as we head to Szimpla, the oldest and most famous Ruin Bar in Budapest! Next on the list are one or two cheaper bars and ending the night at the large ruin bar/night club Fogas/Instant.
Thursday: River Rampage Boat Party

This is the biggest boat event in Budapest, we start by taking you on an 120 minute fancy party boat night-seeing cruise on the second biggest luxury boat this end of the Danube! For 5000 hufs for the welcome drink ticket, or 7000 which includes a whole bottle of champagne (not to be underestimated!) The best sightseeing is of course night-seeing so check out the city from the Danube and see how beautiful it is floodlit (whilst consuming copious amounts of booze of course, and kissing someone under every bridge as is Hungarian tradition!). We then dock and take you to the famous Ruin Bar Fogas for a Dance Party.
Friday: Ruin Bar Pub Crawl

Our epic pub crawls take you to several underground ruin bars with four party hostels and end in a club. It is free to join just buy your own drinks along the way. I’m sure by now you’re wondering what the heck a ruin bar is, considering we mention it so damn much. What is a ruin bar? Well, they are old Communist structures that sat abandoned for years until some geniuses decided to turn them into pubs. Expect crazy art on the walls (we’re talking Mona Lisa with eight arms DJing), weird pieces of history, and an overall uniquely Budapestian vibe. Best part of the crawl is that it’s FREE. We don't run our pub crawls; we don't charge you and give you a shit shirt that you'll never wear; you're basically just coming with us to some of our favorite bars to get drunk. Easy. We do have drink vouchers available that you can buy for even cheaper drinks!
Saturday: Bingo Bar Crawl/Trivia

Join us at Retox Bar for a talented night of singing, dancing, and drinking! Show off your skills (or what booze tells you are skills) on our karaoke stage! Spend the night meeting fellow backpackers and ex-pats alike! A less expensive alternative to Sparty.

Sparty (Spa Party) This event is hard to describe in words... imagine a company that thought up the amazing idea to mix a shit ton of people with thermal hot springs, lasers, djs, and of course an immense amount of alcohol....... and then you have Sparty! You can get tickets from the hostel for 15000HUf.
Sunday: Jager Train and Retox Bar Party!

When most people take Sunday as the day of rest...... we use it for a Sunday sesh!!! .... Like Jager? Yeah, so do we. That's why every Sunday is our famous Jager train.

Know what a Jager bomb is? Well, we line up the Red Bull on the bottom, precariously balance the Jager on top, and then set that shit off like dominoes. 4,000HUF gets you 5 Jager bombs, which is stupid cheap! Get 5 for yourself, or share them between friends, but make sure you get at least one in your hand because we always do the first one together to kick start the night!!

After that, we have a massive party in our bar. There are drinking games, DJs, Shots, Turbulence, Challenges, Dancing. The party ends when you stop drinking so be prepared for a long one!

From: Budapest Airport

Take the 200E bus towards Kőbanya Kispest and then take the blue Metro line towards Újpest-Központ then get off at Corvin Negyed (Ferenc Körút) metro station, from there you catch 4/6 tram in the direction of Széll Kálmán tér for 6 stops which will be Oktogon. Walk along Teréz korut (road the tram is on) away from the intersection (direction tram was travelling) and take your first left down Aradi utca, then turn right at the end of the street and then the first left down Ó utca, we are on the left hand side number 41. From: Népliget Bus Station

By Taxi

Taxis are available from the airport to the hostel. Make sure you go to the Taxi desk, located just outside the arrivals terminal, where they will give you a receipt and send you directly to a taxi. The taxi should cost between 7000 – 9000 Ft on the meter. Do not get a taxi from anyone inside the terminal offering a taxi service as they are not licensed city operators.

If you are a group of 8 or more we can offer a pick up shuttle with a guide waiting for you at the Arrivals terminal. This will cost 3300 Ft one way or 5700 Ft return and this includes a beer for your journey. Just make sure you email the hostel in advance with your flight details to book the transfer.

From: Nyugati Train station

From here you can take the 4/6 tram in the OPPOSITE direction of Széll Kálmán tér for 1 stop which will be Oktogon. Walk along Teréz körút and take your first left down Aradi utca, then turn right at the end of the road and then the first left is Ó utca, we are on the left hand side number 41 (Look for the Retox signage). Please buy tram tickets at the station (350 HUF each) as the fine for not using them is 16,000 HUF and there are frequent inspectors on site.

From: Keleti (International) Train station

Get the number 5, 7 or 173 bus to Blaha Lújza tér (2 stops) or you can walk down Rákóczi út for 10-15 minutes. Then get on the yellow tram 4 or 6 towards Széll Kálmán tér and get off at Oktogon (3 stops). Walk along Teréz Körút (road the tram is travelling) away from the intersection (direction tram was going) and take your first left down Aradi utca, then turn right at the end of the street and then the first left down Ó utca, we are on the left hand side number 41 (Look for the Retox signage). Please buy metro tickets at the station (350 HUF each) as the fine for not using them is 16,000 HUF and there are frequent inspectors on site.

From: Déli Train Station

Take the red Metro line from Déli pályaudvar towards Örs vezér tere then get off at Deák tér metro station, from there you change to the yellow line in the direction of Mexikói út for 3 stops, which will be Oktogon. Walk along Teréz körút (Burger King side) away from the intersection and take your first left down Aradi utca, then turn right at the end of the street and then the first left down Ó utca, we are on the left hand side number 41 (Look for the Retox signage). Retox_logo The hostel is an old courtyard building, littered with graffiti from local and international street artists. The courtyard is a backpackers’ bar (which is run by us) and a great place for you to recover from your hangover with a few breakfast beers and meet people from all over the world.

Everyone and anyone willing to get accepted will be welcomed with open arms.. we just ask that you do it the Retox way and still respect the local customs and the fact that this is a PARTY hostel by name, and by nature… The hostel is upstairs, and be warned that during your stay you might wake up to the sound of a fellow party member spewing in the bathroom, you may even see/hear people shagging in your room (that’s if you aren’t the one getting lucky!). The rooms themselves are all individually decorated with street art, Retox themed. Our hostel has a mix of private, basic and standard dorm rooms, some with en suite and some with shared bathrooms, an electronic key entry system and with varying numbers of beds (although I wouldn’t worry too much, as this is a place where we define a bed as a place to put your drunken head at the end of the end of the night!)

We are part of the Budapest Party Hostels chain, a group run by backpackers who love to party. We know how hangovers feel so we don’t have check out times or kick you out during the day for cleaning. We don’t like charging for extras so there is free wifi, free computer use, free linen, free tea and coffee, free locker use, free printing as well as a bunch of other things you can hire from the hostel with just a deposit. The Retox crew upon arrival will give you an in depth map reading, filling you in on all the greatest sights and how best to experience them. These guys are hand picked to show you a wicked time, whether it be to help you with whatever you need to know about the city, tours you may want to do, where to get some good local food or the closest place to get booze 24hrs a day, so you can come back and drink with us. We tend to build a close community of newly made groups of friends who want to do everything together: Thermal baths, adventure caving, escape houses, paintballing, beer biking, shooting and many more- all of course armed with drinks and good times. As a result, the Bar is also designed for backpackers with cheap shots, drinking games, drinks specials and is the perfect place to pregame before a big night out….you can check in as either a solo traveller or as part of a group, it doesn’t matter, you will walk away with newly made buddies and memories for a lifetime (if you manage to remember them!)

That’s the day…now the night! A huge part of what we do is get everyone together and personally take them out every night to see what Budapest has to offer. Not only do the Retox crew take you out to the nightlife Budapest is famous for such as the Bath Parties, Party Boats (the best way to see this amazing city) and Ruin Bar Pub Crawls but when the city goes quiet at the beginning of the week, Budapest Party Hostels have made our own events including the infamous Jager Train, Open Mic night and costume Backpacker parties. We always have something going on! The only rules we have are about respecting our guests and neighbours and the city noise curfew, other than that we want you to have a wild time and meet amazing people who are like minded about how to party!

Retox is part of the Budapest Party Hostels brand and is one of the wildest of the bunch. Like the name says, this IS a party hostel, we go out every night, some people drink in the daytime, there is a bar, sometimes sex, and a lot of fun. If you don’t like these things, please try a calmer hostel, like our sister hostel Carpe Noctem Vitae.
Regrettably, due to the fact that this is a licensed premises we can not take bookings for anyone under the age of 18. Also, due to previous experience, we can no longer accept bookings for people over 36. If you have booked and are outside this age, please contact us and we will help find you alternative accommodation.
